Car Accidents in Michigan

Grand Blanc Township, MI - Collision With Injuries Near Fenton RdCrashes continue to be a major concern on Michigan roads, with thousands of collisions resulting in injuries each year. In 2022, the Michigan State Police recorded more than 70,000 crashes that involved some level of injury. Many of these incidents occur on local roads, often near businesses or high-traffic areas, where distractions and congestion are common risk factors.

Understanding what to do after a crash can help protect your rights. Here are several steps to take immediately following an accident:

  • Stay Calm and Check for Injuries: If you’re involved in a crash, try to stay calm and assess yourself and others for injuries. Don’t attempt to move anyone who is seriously hurt unless there’s an immediate danger. Call 911 for medical help right away.
  • Move to a Safe Area: If possible, move your vehicle to the side of the road to avoid further collisions. Turn on hazard lights to alert other drivers, especially in low-visibility areas or during heavy traffic.
  • Call the Police: Even in minor crashes, it’s crucial to get a police report. This document serves as an official record and is often required by insurance companies. The responding officers will collect evidence and provide a report number.
  • Exchange Information: Share your name, address, driver’s license number, insurance policy details, and license plate number with the other party involved. Avoid discussing fault at the scene—leave that determination to the investigators.
  • Document the Scene: Use your phone to take photos of the vehicles, damage, license plates, and surroundings. Capture skid marks, road signs, or any conditions that may have contributed to the crash. These images can support your case later on.
