Car Accidents in Michigan

Saginaw, MI – Crash at Genesee Ave & Bond St Prompts Emergency ResponseMichigan continues to see high numbers of crashes each year, many of which occur at busy intersections. With more than 293,000 crashes reported statewide in 2022, nearly 1 in 6 resulted in injuries. Intersections like Genesee Avenue and Bond Street are frequent hotspots for crashes due to congestion, poor visibility, or driver inattention.

Understanding how to reduce the risk of intersection collisions can help keep drivers and passengers safe:

  • Always Pause Before Proceeding Through a Green Light: Even when you have the right of way, take a brief moment to look both ways. Drivers running red lights are one of the most common causes of T-bone crashes.
  • Avoid Blocking Intersections: Getting caught in the middle of an intersection when traffic is backed up can lead to accidents. Make sure there’s enough space ahead before you proceed.
  • Signal Clearly and Early: Using your turn signals helps others anticipate your actions. Failing to signal or doing so too late increases the chances of a collision at intersections.
  • Watch for Pedestrians and Cyclists: Busy intersections often have foot traffic and bicycles crossing. Remain alert, especially when making turns or approaching crosswalks.
  • Adjust for Weather Conditions: Rain, fog, or snow can reduce visibility and make stopping more difficult. Slow down and stay alert during inclement weather, especially near intersections.
