Lansing, MI (April 21, 2025) – A motor vehicle crash took place early Saturday morning, April 19, along Interstate 96 near Meridian Road, leaving one person dead and two others with serious injuries.
According to the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the scene around 7:20 a.m. after a westbound sedan veered off the roadway, entered the median, and rolled multiple times before coming to a stop in the eastbound lanes of I-96. The vehicle was carrying four individuals at the time of the crash.
Authorities reported that two of the passengers were ejected from the vehicle during the violent rollover. One of those passengers, a 17-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 22-year-old, and another 20-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries and were transported to a hospital in Lansing for emergency treatment. The fourth occupant was reportedly unharmed.
Investigators closed the eastbound lanes of I-96 for several hours to conduct a thorough on-site investigation and to allow emergency crews to attend to the injured. The closure lasted until shortly after 11:00 a.m. According to law enforcement, alcohol or drugs are not suspected to have played a role in the crash. All individuals involved were reported to be residents of Troy, Michigan.
