Redford Township, MI - Motorcyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run on Plymouth Rd

Redford Township, MI (April 22, 2025) – A tragic crash involving a motorcycle and a car took place in Redford Township on Sunday, April 20, claiming the life of the motorcyclist. The collision occurred near the intersection of Plymouth Road and Beech Daly Road.

Officers with the Redford Township Police Department arrived at the crash scene to find the motorcycle engulfed in flames and the rider on the ground nearby. Police quickly pulled the individual away from the fire and began administering first aid. Emergency crews then transported the victim to Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Preliminary findings suggest that the motorcyclist had been traveling northbound on Beech Daly Road when a white Cadillac, heading southbound, attempted to turn left onto eastbound Plymouth Road, cutting across the motorcyclist’s path. The impact left the motorcycle severely damaged and sparked the fire. Following the collision, the driver of the Cadillac fled the scene. Authorities later located the suspected vehicle several hours afterward in Detroit. Investigators say they have identified a possible suspect and are continuing their investigation.

We hope those injured in this accident recover quickly.

Motorcycle Accidents in Michigan

Redford Township, MI - Motorcyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run on Plymouth RdMotorcycle crashes in Michigan remain a serious concern for public safety. According to recent data, motorcyclists are involved in thousands of crashes each year across the state, with a high percentage resulting in injury or death. Michigan’s variable weather, coupled with urban traffic conditions, can increase the risk of crashes involving motorcycles.

When someone is injured in a motorcycle crash, a variety of outcomes and challenges can follow. Let’s take a closer look at one of those topics: common injuries suffered in these types of crashes.

  • Head and Brain Trauma: Even with helmet use, motorcyclists face a significant risk of suffering head injuries. Concussions, skull fractures, and traumatic brain injuries are all common. These injuries can lead to cognitive issues, long-term disability, or even death.
  • Spinal Cord Injuries: The force of a crash can result in severe damage to the spine, sometimes leading to partial or complete paralysis. Recovery is often lengthy and requires intense therapy and medical support.
  • Broken Bones and Fractures: Arms, legs, ribs, and collarbones are frequently broken in motorcycle crashes. These injuries may require surgery, casting, and extended periods of limited mobility.
  • Road Rash and Lacerations: Sliding across pavement can cause deep abrasions and cuts. While some road rash is minor, more serious cases can involve skin grafts and long-term scarring.
  • Internal Injuries: Blunt force trauma can lead to injuries to organs like the liver, kidneys, or lungs. These injuries are often difficult to detect immediately but can be life-threatening if not treated quickly.
