Car Accidents in Michigan

Burton, MI – Injuries Reported in Crash on N Belsay RdCar accidents happen frequently across Michigan and can lead to life-altering injuries. In 2023, state data showed nearly 300,000 reported crashes. These incidents resulted in tens of thousands of injuries, many requiring long-term care. High-traffic roads and intersections are often where these crashes take place.

After an accident, one of the most important things victims deal with is the insurance process. Below are several common challenges that come with insurance claims after a car accident:

  • Delayed Payouts: Insurance companies may take weeks or even months to process claims. Victims often face delays while medical bills and vehicle repair costs continue to add up. This can place additional stress on people who are already struggling with injuries.
  • Low Settlement Offers: It's common for insurers to offer less than what a claim is worth. These lowball offers might not cover medical expenses, lost wages, or pain and suffering. Without proper guidance, many victims accept these settlements without realizing the long-term impact.
  • Disputes Over Fault: Insurance companies often question who caused the crash to avoid paying full compensation. This can delay the process and sometimes result in denied claims. Having strong documentation and legal help can make a big difference in these disputes.
  • Medical Coverage Issues: Insurers may push back against covering certain treatments or long-term care. Some policies have limitations on types of care or caps on how much they’ll pay, leaving victims to cover the rest out-of-pocket.
  • Uninsured or Underinsured Drivers: Accidents involving drivers with minimal or no coverage present another hurdle. Victims may need to rely on their own policy’s protections, which can be confusing and difficult to navigate without assistance.
