Car Accidents in Michigan

Flint, MI – Injuries Reported in Crash at W Bristol Rd & Van Slyke RdIn Michigan, car accidents remain a serious concern with thousands of injuries reported each year. According to recent traffic data, the state saw nearly 300,000 crashes in 2023, with over 70,000 people hurt. Many of these accidents occur at intersections, often due to distracted or reckless driving behaviors.

When looking at crash-related outcomes, certain injuries are commonly reported by victims. Here’s a closer look at the kinds of injuries people often face after being involved in an accident:

  • Whiplash and Neck Strain: Sudden movement from a collision often results in the head snapping forward and back. This leads to whiplash—an injury that can cause long-term discomfort, limited range of motion, and ongoing headaches.
  • Back and Spinal Injuries: Even in lower-speed accidents, spinal injuries such as herniated discs or nerve damage are common. Some back injuries may not become painful until days after the crash, making medical evaluation critical.
  • Broken Bones: Arms, legs, ribs, and facial bones are especially vulnerable during a collision. These injuries often require surgery, immobilization, and weeks of rehabilitation before full recovery.
  • Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI): Concussions and other brain injuries can occur from sudden impact or hitting the inside of the vehicle. These types of injuries can lead to memory loss, cognitive challenges, and emotional changes.
  • Soft Tissue Damage: Bruises, sprains, and ligament tears may not sound severe but can greatly affect a person’s ability to work or handle daily tasks. These injuries often lead to swelling and long-term discomfort.
  • Internal Injuries: Blunt-force trauma may cause internal bleeding or damage to organs, which can be life-threatening if not detected early. Symptoms might not be immediately visible, so prompt medical care is vital.
