Green Oak Twp., MI - Teen Killed in Rollover Crash on Whitmore Lake Rd

Green Oak Twp., MI (May 1, 2025) – A heartbreaking crash in Livingston County claimed the life of a 16-year-old and left two others injured on Tuesday night, April 30. The rollover crash happened in Green Oak Charter Township near Whitmore Lake, just south of Brighton, around 10:30 p.m.

According to police, the vehicle involved was a Mercury Montego, driven by an 18-year-old who was heading down Whitmore Lake Road near Michigan 36 when the vehicle rolled. During the rollover, a 16-year-old passenger in the back seat was ejected from the SUV and tragically died at the scene. The driver and another 16-year-old passenger were also hurt and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities have confirmed that blood was drawn from the driver and toxicology results are pending. Investigators suspect that alcohol and/or drugs could have played a role in the crash, though no official determinations have been made. The identities of the three teens involved have not been released.
