Bronson, MI – Our Hurt in Car and Semi-Truck Crash on US-12

Bronson, MI (May 2, 2025) – A serious crash involving a car and a semi-truck caused major traffic disruption in Bronson on Thursday, May 1. The collision occurred at the intersection of US Highway 12 and Holmes Road and resulted in injuries to one person.

Branch County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to the scene following reports of a vehicle crossing into oncoming traffic. According to their preliminary investigation, a westbound car on U.S. 12 veered over the centerline into the eastbound lane, colliding head-on with a semi-truck and trailer. The semi-truck driver attempted to swerve out of the way but was unable to avoid the crash.

The driver of the car was taken from the scene by LifeCare Ambulance and transported to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. He sustained injuries that required medical care, though further details on his condition were not immediately available. The semi-truck driver was not hurt in the incident.

U.S. 12 was closed in both directions for nearly four hours while authorities cleared the scene and began their investigation. Assisting at the scene were the Bronson Fire Department, LifeCare Ambulance, the Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Division, and the Branch County Road Commission. The cause of the crash remains under review.

We hope those injured in this accident recover quickly.

Truck Accidents in Michigan

Bronson, MI – Our Hurt in Car and Semi-Truck Crash on US-12Commercial truck accidents across Michigan continue to raise serious concerns for public safety. These collisions often result in significant injuries due to the size and weight of the vehicles involved. According to Michigan Traffic Crash Facts, thousands of large-truck crashes occur in the state each year, many of them leading to injury or death.

In the aftermath of these collisions, many victims and their families face unique challenges, especially when semi-trucks are involved. Here are several important aspects to consider:

  • Increased Severity of Injuries: Due to the immense size difference between passenger vehicles and commercial trucks, accidents often result in more severe injuries such as spinal cord trauma, internal bleeding, or complex fractures.
  • Longer Recovery Periods: Recovery from a truck accident may take months or years, depending on the extent of the injuries. Many victims need physical therapy, rehabilitation, and even home modifications after leaving the hospital.
  • Federal and State Regulations: Trucking companies and their drivers must follow specific safety regulations. These rules can influence liability in a crash and must be reviewed during an investigation.
  • Commercial Insurance Carriers: Unlike typical car accident claims, truck accidents involve corporate insurers with strong legal representation. Victims may face pressure to settle quickly and for less than what they deserve.
  • Driver Fatigue or Negligence: Fatigue, distracted driving, or improper maintenance can all contribute to semi-truck accidents. Investigators often examine driver logs and truck maintenance records to determine if any violations occurred.
  • Multiple Liable Parties: In truck accidents, more than one party may be at fault—including the driver, trucking company, maintenance provider, or even the manufacturer of faulty equipment. Identifying all liable entities is key to pursuing full compensation.
