Car Accidents in Michigan

Detroit, MI – Car Crash with Injuries at Conner St and I-94Michigan continues to see a high number of injury-related vehicle accidents each year. According to state reports, thousands of crashes take place in and around Detroit annually. Many occur on major roadways like I-94, which see heavy daily traffic volumes and increased risk for high-speed collisions.

Let’s take a closer look at common causes of early morning accidents:

  • Driver Fatigue: Fatigue is one of the most underestimated risks on the road. Early morning hours, especially between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m., are peak times for drowsy driving. A tired driver has slower reaction times and can fall asleep at the wheel, causing serious accidents.
  • Reduced Visibility: At dawn, changing light conditions can make it hard to see other vehicles, road signs, or pedestrians. Glare from the rising sun can also temporarily blind drivers or create difficulty seeing clearly through dirty windshields.
  • Rush Hour Traffic: Morning commutes bring a large number of vehicles onto major roads. Sudden braking, impatient lane changes, and distracted driving all increase during rush hour and can lead to rear-end or multi-vehicle crashes.
  • Distracted Driving: Many drivers use their phones or eat breakfast on the go during morning commutes. These distractions take attention away from the road and increase the likelihood of a crash, especially in heavy traffic.
  • Weather Conditions: Morning fog, frost, or slick roads from overnight rain can lead to hazardous driving conditions. Drivers may not adjust their speed or braking in time, resulting in accidents.
