Car Accidents in Michigan

Grand Blanc Twp., MI – Crash Reported Near I-75 and Fenton RdIn Michigan, car accidents are unfortunately frequent, particularly on major highways and heavily traveled roads. The Michigan State Police report that in 2023, more than 51,000 injury crashes occurred statewide. While some collisions are minor, others result in serious harm that may affect victims for years to come. Drivers are reminded to stay alert and reduce speed in high-traffic corridors like Interstate 75.

For drivers to better understand the risks and aftermath of collisions, it’s worth considering how accident injuries can affect daily life. Here are some of the most common injuries people experience after a car crash:

  • Whiplash: Often resulting from rear-end collisions, whiplash causes neck strain due to rapid back-and-forth movement. Symptoms may not appear immediately, which is why it’s essential to seek medical evaluation after any crash. Ongoing discomfort can interfere with sleep and work performance.
  • Back and Spinal Injuries: Lower back pain, herniated discs, and spinal damage are frequent injuries from high-speed accidents. These types of injuries often require long-term therapy or surgery and can lead to limited mobility or permanent disability.
  • Head Injuries and Concussions: Even with airbags, drivers and passengers may strike their heads during impact. Concussions can lead to memory issues, dizziness, and difficulty concentrating. Severe traumatic brain injuries may require long-term care and affect a person’s ability to live independently.
  • Broken Bones: Arms, legs, ribs, and wrists are often fractured in crashes. Depending on the break, recovery may involve weeks or months of immobilization, physical therapy, and lifestyle adjustments. These injuries may also cause chronic pain even after healing.
  • Internal Injuries: The force of a crash can result in internal bleeding or organ damage. These injuries may not be immediately apparent but can be life-threatening. Immediate medical care is crucial following any collision to detect and treat hidden trauma.
