Car Accidents in Michigan

Burton, MI – Injuries Reported in Crash on EB I-69 at N Belsay RdEach year, Michigan’s roads see a high number of injury crashes, especially on busy highways and interstates. The Michigan State Police reported more than 290,000 traffic accidents across the state in 2023. Many of these occurred on major routes like Interstate 69, where high speeds and congested traffic increase the risk of serious collisions.

Let’s take a closer look at how vehicle crashes can impact a person’s ability to work and earn a living:

  • Lost Wages During Recovery: Even a moderate injury can result in time away from work. Whether it’s days, weeks, or longer, that missed time often means lost income, which can quickly affect household budgets and financial stability.
  • Permanent Disability: Some injuries may leave victims unable to return to their previous jobs. A physically demanding role may become impossible after a back or leg injury, forcing individuals to seek new employment—often at lower pay or in different industries.
  • Disrupted Career Progression: Recovery can interrupt promotions, training opportunities, or job performance reviews. Victims who were on the verge of advancing in their careers may find their professional development delayed or derailed due to the crash.
  • Stress from Financial Uncertainty: Medical bills, therapy costs, and household expenses often pile up after an accident. For many, this leads to significant stress about paying bills or supporting a family, especially without a reliable income during recovery.
  • Inability to Perform Job Duties: For people in fields that require manual labor, driving, or travel, physical limitations from an accident can make it impossible to continue working in the same role, leading to forced career changes.
