Warren, MI (May 26, 2025) – A police pursuit in Warren on Saturday night, May 24, led to a deadly crash that claimed the life of a 71-year-old woman. The crash occurred at the intersection of 9 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue around 9:33 p.m., according to local authorities.
Warren Police reported that the incident began when officers observed a black Chrysler 300 driving erratically near Van Dyke Avenue and Miller. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over, initiating a pursuit. The suspect vehicle traveled north before reversing direction and heading southbound on Van Dyke.
At the intersection of 9 Mile and Van Dyke, the suspect's vehicle collided with two other vehicles. One of those vehicles was being driven by a 71-year-old woman, who sustained serious injuries. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died. Occupants of the second vehicle involved did not suffer serious injuries.
The driver of the Chrysler fled the crash scene on foot but was quickly located and taken into custody. The Warren Police Department’s Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit is actively investigating the circumstances of the pursuit and crash.
