Car Accidents in Michigan

Flint, MI – Auto Accident with Injuries at Beecher Rd & Westcombe AveAccording to the Michigan State Police, car accidents continue to be a daily occurrence across the state. In 2022, the state saw nearly 1,100 fatalities and more than 51,000 injury-related crashes. From urban streets to rural highways, these incidents can cause life-changing harm for those involved. Victims often face an uphill battle as they deal with physical recovery, financial burdens, and emotional stress.

Understanding what types of injuries are most common in Michigan car accidents can help identify their impact:

  • Whiplash and Neck Injuries: Rear-end collisions frequently result in soft tissue injuries to the neck. Whiplash occurs when the head is rapidly forced back and forth. These injuries can cause pain, reduced mobility, and headaches that persist for weeks or even months.
  • Back Injuries: Accidents often lead to lower back strains, herniated discs, or spinal cord trauma. Recovery may require physical therapy or surgery, and in severe cases, injuries can result in long-term disability.
  • Head Injuries and Concussions: Blunt trauma to the head may lead to concussions or more severe traumatic brain injuries. Even mild concussions can disrupt daily life, while more significant injuries can lead to permanent changes in cognitive function.
  • Fractures and Broken Bones: Broken arms, legs, and ribs are common due to the force of impact. Depending on the severity, healing can take months and often requires physical rehabilitation and possibly surgical repair.
  • Internal Injuries: Seat belts, airbags, or blunt force may cause internal bleeding or damage to organs. These injuries might not show immediate symptoms and often require emergency medical evaluation.
