Washington Twp., MI (June 3, 2025) – Early Monday morning, a serious vehicle crash caused significant disruptions along Michigan 53 near 32 Mile Road in Washington Township. The incident, reported around 9 a.m. on June 2, involved a white Chevrolet Express van that collided with the back of a semi-trailer.
According to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, the van's driver, a 49-year-old married mother from Bruce Township, tragically lost her life at the scene. The individual, a mother of six children, was pronounced dead after the collision. Authorities shared that the semi-truck driver was unharmed. As a result of the crash, Michigan 53 remained closed for several hours, with road crews and investigators working to clear debris and gather evidence. The Michigan Department of Transportation confirmed the roadway reopened at approximately 2:55 p.m. The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office and the Michigan State Police are continuing their investigation into the cause of the collision.
