Genoa Twp., MI - Two Critically Injured in Industrial Accident on Latson Rd

Genoa Township, MI (June 6, 2025) – On the afternoon of June 5, a serious industrial accident occurred at a construction site along Latson Road, south of Grand River, in Genoa Township. Emergency crews from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and Brighton Area Fire Department responded around 12:30 p.m.

According to preliminary findings, employees were in the process of pouring concrete for a car wash under construction when the boom spreader from a concrete truck made contact with an overhead primary power line. The power line broke and fell, striking two employees working below. Both individuals suffered electrocution injuries and were transported in critical condition to the University of Michigan Hospital by Livingston County EMS.

DTE crews assisted at the scene by securing the area, and the investigation has since been turned over to the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) for further review. The Sheriff’s Office stated that no further details regarding the victims or the construction company will be released at this time, pending the official MIOSHA investigation.
