Detroit, MI - Motorcyclist Killed in Early Morning Crash on I-75

Detroit, MI (June 13, 2025) – A fatal crash involving a motorcycle shut down portions of Interstate 75 in Detroit early Thursday morning, June 12. According to the Michigan State Police, a 33-year-old motorcyclist from Sterling Heights died after being rear-ended near the Grand River Avenue area.

Authorities reported that the crash occurred in the northbound lanes of I-75 when a Chevy Trailblazer, driven by a 20-year-old man from Warren, struck the rear of the motorcycle. The impact caused the rider to lose control and crash on the freeway.

Emergency crews arrived quickly, and the motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital. Tragically, they were later pronounced dead. The Trailblazer’s driver declined medical treatment at the scene.

Michigan State Police closed off several lanes of I-75 for hours to conduct a full investigation. The roadway has since reopened, but the investigation into what led to the crash remains ongoing.
