Waterford Twp., MI - Child Critically Injured in Highland Rd Crash

Waterford Township, MI (June 13, 2025) – A serious crash Wednesday evening in Waterford Township left four people injured, including a 10-year-old child who remains in critical condition. The collision occurred around 6:00 p.m. on June 12 at the intersection of Highland Road and Cass Lake Road.

According to the Waterford Township Police Department, the crash involved a Ford Escape traveling south on Cass Lake Road and a silver Jaguar X-Type traveling north. Authorities say the Jaguar driver attempted to turn westbound onto Highland Road and ran a red light, striking the Ford Escape.

The Jaguar’s driver was hospitalized with moderate injuries. Inside the Ford Escape were four individuals. The 19-year-old driver and a 22-year-old front passenger both suffered moderate injuries and were admitted to a local hospital. A 14-year-old rear passenger sustained minor injuries and has since been treated and released.

The most seriously hurt was a 10-year-old passenger seated in the back of the Escape, who suffered a traumatic head injury. Emergency personnel transported the child to DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital, where they remain in critical condition as of Thursday.
