Richfield Twp., MI - Fatal Motorcycle Hit-and-Run on Richfield Rd

Richfield Township, MI (June 15, 2025) – A tragic hit-and-run crash claimed the life of a 48-year-old Genesee woman late Friday night, June 13, near the Outdoor Adventures campground in Richfield Township.

According to the Richfield Township Police Department, the woman was traveling westbound on Richfield Road around 11:40 p.m. on a motorcycle. Her husband was following behind her on a separate bike when a 2015 Jeep Cherokee entered the roadway from the campground driveway. The woman was unable to avoid hitting the Jeep and suffered critical injuries in the crash.

Emergency responders rushed her to Hurley Medical Center, where she passed away overnight due to the severity of her injuries.

The driver of the Jeep, identified as a 58-year-old man from Richfield Township, fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. However, investigators recovered vehicle parts at the site and determined the striking vehicle was a gray 2015 Jeep Cherokee with damage to the driver’s side. Authorities located and arrested the suspect the following day. He remains in custody at the Genesee County Jail pending formal charges.
