46-Year-Old Worker Killed by Falling Metal File Cabinet in Jackson, Michigan

Jackson, MI. - A 46-year-old student support specialist was killed after a work accident in Jackson, Michigan.

According to the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration Wednesday report, June 18, the accident happened on April 30th.

Authorities said the 46-year-old worker was fatally injured by a metal file cabinet that fell on them.

Responding emergency crews declared the student dead at the crash site.

An autopsy revealed traumatic (compression) chest asphyxia to be the cause of the death of the worker.

This death was recorded as the 11th work-related death in Michigan in 2025.
