Ash Twp., MI (June 19, 2025) – A deadly collision occurred on the evening of June 16 in Monroe County. Authorities were called to the scene at 5:08 p.m. after a two-vehicle crash took place along North Telegraph Road, just north of Carleton Rockwood Road in Ash Township.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the incident involved a red 2012 International 4000 flatbed truck that had come to a stop in the northbound lane, preparing to turn into a private drive. While the truck, driven by a 65-year-old Carleton man, was stationary with its brake lights and turn signal activated, it was rear-ended by a gray 2012 Ford Escape.
The Ford, driven by a 30-year-old woman from Carleton, rotated after impact and came to a stop off the east side of the road. Tragically, the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the flatbed truck was uninjured and released by authorities. It was noted that the truck driver was wearing a seatbelt, while the woman in the SUV was not. Airbags in her vehicle did deploy.
Authorities have ruled out alcohol and speed as contributing factors. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate with assistance from multiple agencies.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim during this difficult time.
