Detroit, MI - Injury Auto Accident Occurs on I-96 Near Wixom Rd

Detroit, MI (July 25, 2023) - On Tuesday, July 25, during the earlier evening hours, detectives from the Detroit Police Department reported a multiple-vehicle collision with apparent injuries, and they subsequently initiated an investigation.

According to a Michigan Department of Transportation accident alert, the incident occurred on the westbound side of I-96 at approximately 6:15 p.m. DPD officers and paramedics, which were dispatched a short time later, closed almost all lanes before Wixom Road as soon as they arrived. Only the left lane remained open as authorities urged drivers to take alternate routes.

After DPD police cleared the scene, paramedics were dispatched, but there was no information regarding the condition of those involved or the severity of injuries. Officials from the DPD will oversee the ongoing investigation and release new information as it becomes available.
