Multi-Car Crashes in Detroit
While dealing with the aftermath of an automobile accident in Michigan may be difficult and stressful, there are some basic steps you can take to protect your legal rights.
First, motorists in Michigan should be aware that a police report is required for each accident with damages above $1,000. The police report will include information on the crash site, eyewitness accounts, and insurance companies.
Furthermore, if you have been in an accident, you should see a doctor immediately, regardless of how minor your injuries may appear. When symptoms from even small injuries don’t appear for hours or days, the toll on the victim’s quality of life may be devastating.
To further demonstrate that the accident was the source of their diseases, victims should start keeping thorough records at the first evidence of damage or associated symptoms. It’s crucial to visit a doctor if your symptoms continue or worsen after therapy. Document everything you can about your recovery in the weeks after the accident, including how frequently your injury flares up, how much it costs, how much pain you’re in, and whether you’ve changed your treatment strategy.
Keep in mind that the key to rapid recovery after an injury is regular visits to your primary care physician and participation in physical and occupational therapy. Your eligibility to submit a claim and take legal action is contingent upon your cooperation with your doctor’s recommended course of treatment. People who have been wounded in incidents in Michigan sometimes hear from insurance adjusters that they will not be compensated if they reject treatment or delay medical attention.
