Detroit, MI (October 2, 2023) - A motor vehicle wreck with reported injuries shut down most lanes of Interstate 196 on Monday morning, October 2, according to local authorities.

A report of a collision was made at about 9:00 a.m. by officers with the Detroit Police Department, and an accident alert was released a short time later by the Michigan Department of Transportation.

MDOT reports that the accident shut down several lanes after the exit to U.S. Highway 131. No word has been given on the degree of the victims' injuries or their current conditions, though paramedics stated that at least two people were injured.

The DPD and troopers with the Michigan State Police are conducting a collaborative investigation in the interim. Witnesses with additional information about the crash were asked to get in touch with the DPD or MSP as soon as possible.
