Almer Township, MI (November 11, 2023) - Troopers from the Caro Post were sent to the scene of a collision on Thursday afternoon, November 9, in Almer Township, Tuscola County.
A passenger sedan and a large truck collided on M-24 close to Darbee Road, prompting the summoning of state troopers around 9:30 p.m.
A 44-year-old Saginaw woman slowed down on northbound M-24 before turning left onto a private road. A semi-tractor trailer driven by a 37-year-old man from Fresno, California, rear-ended her car as she turned left. An ambulance took the woman to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The 37-year-old man was towing an empty trailer with his 2024 Volvo. Troopers say he was cited for not stopping at a safe distance.
The Tuscola County Sheriff's Office, Fairgrove Fire, and MMR all aided state troopers at the scene. No further details were released, but an investigation is still active.
Our thoughts go out to the injured woman and her loved ones. We hope for her full recovery.
