Car Accidents in Michigan

Macomb, MI – Injury Crash Involving Two Trucks Reported on 21 Mile RdMichigan sees hundreds of motor vehicle crashes each day, many resulting in injuries. With over 70,000 injury-related crashes annually, intersections and busy stretches like 21 Mile Road in Macomb are frequent sites of concern. Pickup trucks, due to their size and weight, can lead to serious injuries in collisions with other vehicles.

When it comes to injuries involving the head and brain, early detection and care are critical. Here’s what victims and families should understand:

  • Concussions and Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs): Even low-speed collisions can cause the brain to jolt inside the skull, leading to a concussion. TBIs may cause headaches, memory loss, confusion, or nausea, and symptoms don’t always show immediately.
  • Long-Term Cognitive Effects: Some individuals experience difficulty concentrating, emotional changes, or mood swings following a head injury. These changes can affect work and personal life for weeks or months.
  • Delayed Symptoms: It’s not uncommon for head pain to start hours after the crash. That’s why immediate medical attention is vital—even if symptoms seem minor initially.
  • Medical Imaging and Monitoring: CT scans or MRIs may be required to rule out internal bleeding or swelling. Proper follow-up is key to identifying complications that might not be apparent at the scene.
  • Treatment and Rehabilitation: Recovery may involve rest, cognitive therapy, or medication. In more serious cases, victims may require specialized care for long-term management.
