Detroit, MI (August 8, 2023) - Officers from the Detroit Police Department were called to I-696 in the westbound lane late on Tuesday, August 8, after receiving a report of a collision and injuries.

According to the DPD and the Michigan DOT, the collision happened at roughly 3:50 in the afternoon on the freeway's westbound side. The event, which resulted in the closure of multiple right-hand traffic lanes and the subsequent dispatch of first responders, was first reported by officials as involving two drivers and a few passengers. The collision location, which was sealed down for the on-scene investigation and emergency workers also showed up to check the victims' injuries, was approximately a mile from the exit onto Highway 10.

Agents from the DPD are now in charge of the inquiry and have not yet offered any new information.

We send our thoughts and best wishes for recovery to the injured victims.

Personal Injury Claims in Detroit

Accident victims are legally entitled to restitution for their suffering in the form of money, medical care, and emotional support. In other words, it will be simpler to start along the road to rehabilitation if you are aware of your legal rights.

First off, your biggest source of financial assistance after an accident is your No-Fault vehicle insurance policy. The at-fault party's insurance provider will then frequently resolve your claim and cover any damages. Following an accident involving several people or entities, it could be necessary to file multiple insurance claims. Unfortunately, the business strategies used by insurance firms typically involve paying you less than your claim is actually worth.

Therefore, it is wise to have counsel from a group of knowledgeable personal injury lawyers. Following a collision, the procedure may look something like this:

  1. Before the claim may be completed, all responsible parties must be identified and informed, as well as their individual insurance companies.
  2. To build your case, your attorney will gather information, identify the responsible party, and demonstrate carelessness.
  3. After that, your lawyer will begin gathering proof of your damages. This may consist of items like invoices for medical expenses, letters from your employer verifying time off work, and prognosis and treatment notes from your physician.

Additionally, your attorney will meet with the insurance company's claims adjuster to haggle over a settlement that fairly makes up for your losses. If the insurance provider does not provide you with a fair settlement, your lawyer could then advise you to initiate a lawsuit.
