Holland, MI (February 18, 2022) – Three young boys, ages 1, 3, and 4, lost their lives when the vehicle they were traveling in crashed into a pond on Thursday. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s office responded to the scene.
The wreck occurred at 11430 James Street in Holland concerning a white SUV that had hit a curb and rolled over into a pond. The incident occurred shortly after 11:00 a.m. on February 17.
The vehicle was submerged in 3 to 4 feet of water when officials arrived on-site. The female driver, identified as a 30-year-old woman from Holland, was able to free herself, however, she was unable to free the children who were trapped inside their restraint seats.
The children were transported to area medical centers where they were pronounced deceased. The 1-year-old boy was in critical condition for a period of time before passing away.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
