Michigan’s Deadly Traffic Accidents
The aftermath of an automobile accident in Michigan may be unpleasant and difficult to cope with, but there are steps you must take to protect your legal rights.
First and foremost, drivers in Michigan should know that any collision resulting in injuries or property damage in excess of $1,000 must be reported to the state. The incident, any witnesses, and the relevant insurance companies will all be recorded in the police report.
You should go to the hospital after an accident regardless of how seriously you think you were hurt. Even seemingly slight injuries may have a major effect on a person’s standard of living. Victims should start maintaining detailed records of any injury or associated symptoms as soon as they occur to demonstrate that the occurrence was the primary cause of their issues. In a similar vein, you should contact your doctor immediately if you have any new symptoms or injuries while undergoing treatment. Document the ways in which your life, money, and mental health have been impacted by the accident and how you have responded to therapy.
To fully heal from an injury, you’ll need to see your family doctor often, but you’ll also need to engage in physical therapy and occupational therapy. Doing what the doctor orders and completing counseling can also aid your case if you decide to go to court. The insurance company for an accident victim in Michigan may attempt to argue that the victim did not sustain serious injuries and is thus not entitled to benefits or reimbursement if the victim needs to frequently reschedule medical visits.
