Car Accidents in Michigan
The most important thing you can do following a car accident in the Great Lakes State is take care of yourself physically and psychologically. If you’ve been in a car accident, even if you don’t think you’re hurt, call 911 and receive medical attention right away. After that, it’s crucial that you see a qualified doctor about your wounds.
However, the full amount of injuries sustained in vehicle accidents may not become apparent for hours or even days. As a result, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible so that a baseline can be established for your injuries.
Sharing information with the other drivers at the site of the accident might also help protect your future legal rights. It is common practice to exchange contact information with the other drivers involved.
Local authorities will often conduct an investigation into the extent of any damage at the site, including speaking with witnesses and inspecting the cars for evidence. In many of these collisions, authorities ask for the assistance of accident investigators to determine what went wrong.
Still, it’s a good idea to get your own images and films from the crash site. Document the scene of the collision by snapping photos of the cars involved and any skid marks, debris, or property damage. Watch the weather, the road conditions, and anything else that can help explain what happened in the crash.
Finally, you should consult a Michigan personal injury lawyer who has experience defending clients in cases involving motor vehicle accidents.
