Detroit, MI (September 13, 2023) – A man from Oxford was killed in a car accident on Monday afternoon, per local authorities.
The accident occurred at around 5:35 a.m. between John R Road and Dequindre Road, said the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
The 57-year-old man was reportedly driving an eastbound 2008 Ford Taurus on Michigan Highway 59 when he was hit by a westbound 2006 GMC Sierra pickup truck. The second driver, a 25-year-old man from Brandon Township, lost control and drove over a median through an “authorized vehicles only” crossing.
The victim was brought to the hospital on Monday night and later died from his injuries. A second car, driven by a 58-year-old woman in a 2020 Buick Envision, was also hit, though she was reportedly uninjured.
No citations or charges have been filed in the interim, though an investigation is ongoing.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the deceased man’s family.
Deadly Auto Accidents in Detroit
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there is an accident involving a motor vehicle occurring somewhere in the United States every ten seconds. Given the poor figures that we’ve seen both nationally and in Michigan, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the majority of personal injury claims that are being evaluated by our courts today involve automobile collisions.
Following a motor vehicle collision, you should make an appointment with a legal representative even if you believe your injuries are minor and the circumstances surrounding the crash are uncomplicated. Research has shown that plaintiffs who have lawyers representing them get larger damages. This is despite the fact that victims may be concerned that the cost of legal counsel may deplete their resources. The majority of attorneys who specialize in personal injuries work on a contingency fee basis, which means they won’t be paid until their client does.
In a variety of situations, having legal representation might prove to be beneficial. Your attorney will represent you in all dealings with insurers and other parties and will manage all communications on your behalf. Moreover, you can have faith that your attorney will examine your case in great detail, identify the persons who are accountable, and clarify the reasons you need recompense. Conducting interviews with individuals who may serve as witnesses and collecting relevant data are both potential next steps in this regard.
