Detroit, MI - Multi-Car Wreck, Injuries Shuts Down I-696 at Orchard Lake

Detroit, MI (September 17, 2023) - The Detroit Police Department received a collision warning and a report of injuries early on the morning of September 17, and officers rushed to an accident involving numerous vehicles on Interstate 696.

At roughly 8:00 a.m. on the eastbound freeway near Orchard Lake Road, an accident occurred, as reported by the Detroit Police Department and the Michigan Department of Transportation. Authorities shut down all lanes except the left and called for backup after receiving reports of an accident involving two automobiles and a limited number of people.

All wounded individuals were immediately attended to by paramedics; however, it is yet unclear how they are doing. The authorities are still looking into the crash and will provide further details when they become available.
