Grand Rapids, MI (September 21, 2023) - On Wednesday, September 19, a worker for Grand Rapids Public Schools was killed in a job site accident.

At noon, while working at Briggs Field Athletic Facility, an employee was injured while riding a lawnmower.  The exact circumstances of the incident are unclear, though it seems that the worker got stuck under the equipment.

The unnamed member of the operations team worked for the school system for close to two years. A representative for GRPS said that the Grand Rapids Police Department has assumed control of the investigation.

State and municipal officials have not yet finished their report outlining the accident, but an inquiry is ongoing.

Our deepest condolences go out to the deceased man's family.
