Ottawa Co., MI (December 20, 2023) - The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office troopers were dispatched to the location of a Monday car accident that resulted in injuries. The accident was reported to authorities at around 9:00 p.m. on December 18.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, a semi-truck tractor-trailer was traveling southbound when it collided with a vehicle on US Highway 31 near Port Sheldon Street. The force of the collision caused the truck to strike the median and enter the northbound lane. The semi then collided with an additional vehicle before overturning. While at the scene of the accident, a deputy with the Sheriff’s Office was struck by a vehicle that was traveling northbound on the highway. The deputy was injured in the accident and transported to a local hospital for emergency care. At this time, the crash is being investigated.
