Chester Twp., MI – One Killed, Others Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash at Mulliken Rd & M-50

Chester Twp., MI (June 17, 2025) – Authorities are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Sunday, June 15, in Chester Township. According to the Michigan State Police, the two-vehicle collision happened around noon at the intersection of Mulliken Road and Michigan 50 Highway.

The crash involved a southbound Chevy Equinox driven by a 30-year-old woman from Mulliken. Troopers say she failed to stop at a posted sign and entered the intersection, where her vehicle collided with an eastbound Chrysler Pacifica. The Pacifica, driven by a 43-year-old Portland woman, was struck on its side during the impact.

A 29-year-old male passenger riding in the Pacifica was ejected from the vehicle. He was rushed to the University of Michigan Hospital in Charlotte, where he later died from his injuries. Officials have not confirmed whether he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Both drivers suffered minor injuries and were transported to UM Hospital for treatment. Police say alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the collision. The investigation remains active.

We extend our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim.

Car Accidents in Michigan

Chester Twp., MI – One Killed, Others Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash at Mulliken Rd & M-50 Here in Michigan, fatal crashes remain a pressing concern, especially at rural intersections. The Michigan State Police report that failure to yield and running stop signs are among the top causes of deadly collisions statewide. With thousands of intersections spread across the state’s highways and backroads, mistakes at these junctures can have tragic consequences.

When a crash results in loss of life, families are often left with overwhelming burdens. Here are several aspects of fatal accident cases that are important to understand:

  • Intersection Dangers: Rural intersections, especially those with stop signs instead of traffic lights, are common sites for severe crashes. Limited visibility and high travel speeds contribute to the risk.
  • Ejection Risks: Passengers not wearing seatbelts are at increased risk of being ejected from a vehicle during a crash. Ejections often result in life-threatening injuries or fatalities.
  • Emergency Response Timing: Swift transportation to a medical facility is critical. However, in rural areas, response times can be slower, which may impact outcomes in severe cases.
  • Driver Negligence: Disregarding traffic control signs can form the basis of a wrongful death claim. Even in the absence of drugs or alcohol, a driver may still be held liable for failing to follow the rules of the road.
  • Investigations and Reports: Determining fault requires thorough investigation, including scene reconstruction, witness statements, and vehicle analysis. Police reports are crucial to any legal proceedings that may follow.
  • Legal and Financial Repercussions: Families may be entitled to compensation for funeral costs, loss of income, and emotional pain. A wrongful death lawyer can guide them through the steps of filing a claim.
