Detroit, MI (February 28, 2022) - Police in Detroit are currently investigating a fire that occurred early on Monday, February 28. It happened on the northwest side of the city and took the life of one person and two dogs.
Firefighters were called to a two-story home in the 20400 block of Gardendale near Eight Mile shortly after 1:00 a.m. to find heavy smoke, according to the Deputy Fire Commissioner. The flames were extinguished within minutes of their arrival.
They then found a body that had been burned beyond recognition. The bodies of two dogs were also found. They are believed to be puppies.
The Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office is currently working to identify the victim. Investigators have not determined the cause of the fire.
