Ridgeway, MI (November 25, 2021) – A man from Tecumseh was critically injured during a two-vehicle collision in Ridgeway Township on Wednesday, November 24th.
At about 2:20 p.m., Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the scene at the intersection of State Highway 50 and Ridge Highway.
According to sources, a 2019 Chevy pick-up truck was heading northbound on Ridge Highway nearing the intersection of State Highway 50 when two vehicles entered the intersection simultaneously.
The driver of one vehicle, a 30-year-old female from Milan, said that her traffic light was green. The other involved vehicle was a 2010 Mazda going eastbound on State Highway 50, driven by a 38-year-old male from Tecumseh.
The Chevy struck the passenger side of the Mazda, causing it to continue, uncontrolled, through the intersection and crashing into a house on the northeast corner of the intersection.
The driver of the Mazda sustained critical injuries and was taken by ambulance to the University of Michigan Hospital.
The driver of the truck sustained non-critical injuries.
No one in the house was injured.
The crash is being investigated by the Lenawee County Accident Investigation Team to determine if the driver of the Mazda had on a seatbelt and if alcohol or speed was a factor in the crash.
The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Lenawee County Accident Investigation Team, Ridgeway Fire Department, and LCA.
