New Buffalo, MI (November 26, 2021) - One person was killed following a double accident on an ice-covered portion of interstate in southwestern Michigan, near the Indiana state line on Thursday, November 25th.
The first accident took place at about 7:15 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 94 near New Buffalo Township.
An SUV carrying four people was traveling eastbound on I-94 when the driver lost control and crashed into a guardrail.
The second accident occurred moments later when the driver of a Buick Lucerne also lost control in the same area and struck the SUV which was stopped along the interstate’s shoulder.
A passenger from the SUV who was outside helping the injured driver was struck and pinned by the Lucerne. Her injuries ultimately proved fatal.
The driver of the Lucerne and two of its passengers were also injured.
Rain and slick road conditions are thought to have contributed to the accident.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
After a fatal car accident in Michigan, it is important that the victim’s surviving family members speak with an experienced personal injury attorney. Several important no-fault benefits are available to the deceased’s family, like survivor’s loss benefits.
Regrettably, most insurance adjusters are either not honest about the insurance benefits that the family is qualified to receive, their calculations are wrong, or the benefits do not include everything a family is entitled to, such as burial and funeral expenses, social security benefits, replacement services, pension compensation, and disability benefits.
Data provided by the auto insurance industry itself confirms that families contacted directly by an insurance adjuster to settle a claim receive, on average, three to four times less than what they could get with an experienced car accident attorney.
