Hazelton Twp, MI (December 7, 2021) – A 51-year-old woman in Shiawassee County was killed in a house fire on Friday, December 3. The incident was reported to officials in Hazelton Township at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Michigan State Police troopers and paramedics responded to the scene located in the 8000 block of Durand Road near Northwood Creek. A neighbor heard the smoke detector go off and tried to rescue the victim, however, they were unable to do so.
Despite lifesaving efforts, the woman was pronounced deceased a short time later at a local hospital. Information from preliminary reports shows that the fire occurred inside the house while the woman was home.
Police in Hazelton continue to investigate the circumstances of the fire.
