Detroit, MI (December 16, 2021) – Police in Detroit stated that speed was a contributing factor in a single-vehicle wreck that took the life of one person on Thursday morning, December 16. Reports state that it happened around 5:00 a.m. near Davison Street and Mound Road.
A 2020 Jeep Cherokee collided with a tree while carrying five people, officials said. What led up to the crash remains unclear at this time as police are still investigating. The current health conditions of the four others present in the Jeep at the time of the wreck have not been reported.
Traffic was backed up in the area while authorities worked to secure the scene. Local motorists were urged to use alternate travel routes while crews worked on-site.
Nothing further has been reported concerning the nature of the incident.
Our thoughts are with those involved. We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
