Richland Twp., MI – Two Students Killed in Crash on Mills Rd at Black Rd

Richland Twp., MI (January 13, 2024) – A motor vehicle accident reported in Richland Township on Friday morning claimed the lives of two students from the Whittemore-Prescott Area School, according to local news sources. The accident occurred just before 8:00 a.m. on January 12.

Reports provided by the Ogemaw County Sheriff’s Office show that a two-door Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling west on Mills Road when it collided with a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado near Black Road. The 17-year-old driver of the Cobalt in the front seat passenger were both transported to MyMichigan Medical Center in West Branch 6 for emergency medical care. The passenger passed away from their injuries after arriving. One additional 17-year-old victim, who was in the backseat of the cobalt, was also fatally injured. The victim died while at the scene. All of the victims in the cobalt were students at Whittemore-Prescott Area Schools. At this time, the crash is being investigated.
