Monroe Co., MI (January 30, 2024) – A fatal accident reported in Monroe County claimed one person’s life early Monday morning, January 29. At around 2:00 a.m., police and firefighters were called to the scene of a crash that occurred in French Township.

According to reports provided by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, a 68-year-old man was driving a 2019 Freightliner tractor-trailer south on North Monroe Street in the right lane during the early morning hours. For unknown reasons, the truck struck a 33-year-old man on the road near Santure Road. The pedestrian was then struck a second time by a 2003 Ford Mustang. The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and died while still at the scene. At this time, the incident is being investigated by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
